Ingredients
- 200 gBasmati Rice, washed and soaked
- 1 tbspGhee
- 1 tspCumin Seeds
- 1 pcBay Leaves
- 2 cupsWater
- To tasteSalt
To garnish
- 1 tbspCoriander Leaves, finely chopped (optional)
Method
Wash the rice until the water runs clear, soak for 20 minutes and drain.
Heat the ghee in a pot. Add the cumin and bay leaf and let the cumin sizzle for 20 seconds.
Add the rice and stir gently for 1 minute. Pour in 2 cups of water, add salt and bring to a boil.
Cover and cook on the lowest heat for 12 minutes. Switch off and rest for 5 minutes.
Fluff with a fork and garnish with coriander if you like.
Tips
For separate, non-sticky grains, use 1 cup of rice to 1½ cups of water after soaking, and do not lift the lid while it cooks.
